It's hard to believe December is half-over. Our last week of classes for this month is underway. Our December shows are done. It's time to reflect.
The 6th of December was a busy day for many of Masterworks' students and teachers with two dress rehearsals and two shows. The first one was Masterworks Musical Theatre Company's presentation of "We Three Spies", a brilliant little musical by Christy and Daniel Semsen. Though technical problems with the sound were likely director, Teri-Lynn Friesen's worst nightmare, her troupe performed like a dream, completely focused and unfazed.
The songs were fun and meaningful and the choreography strong. The actors shone, with some great diva moments by "Ms. King". Costuming was outstanding. Although the sound glitches were frustrating for the audience, one member commented, "I didn't care about the sound. The message was strong". It certainly was a great reminder that Jesus is still with us, giving us peace in the midst of our challenges, and that His generous love overflowing from us, still wins hearts.
The second show featured a "Taste of Dance". Every year a number of classes are chosen to learn a dance for the Christmas show. There are just enough to give lots of variety without the show going too long. This year did not disappoint. Hats off to the teachers for their light-hearted and innovative choreography. Bravo to the students for their joyful, skilled performances.
Drinks and treats and Christmas art all helped make the day festive. Thanks to everyone for your teamwork and support.
Have a very merry Christmas! Classes resume Monday, January 5th.
