Recitals for 2017 are now a memory. Congratulations to each student, class, and teacher for all the hard work, passion, and skill you put into your dances. Thanks to the costume coordinators, Naomi Wiebe and Teri-Lynn Friesen. Costumes add so much to each performance. Thanks to all who volunteered to make things go smoothly. Thanks to our directors who made the whole year run smoothly and who graciously MC'd the recitals. It is a beautiful thing to witness the year-end recitals. Thanks to the One who gives all good gifts, including music, dance and creativity.
The aroma of pizza will be wafting through the air at Masterworks this month. If you or your kids dance on Tuesdays and Thursdays, you can order some for yourselves.
Here are the details:
Orders are due no later than Tuesday, May 16th. Get an order form at the front desk or download the online form, scan, and email it to email@example.com.
Pizza delivery times are:
Thursday, May 18th at either 5:00 or 6:30
Tuesday, May 23rd at 7:00 during Breathe
One form per student per night, please.
All proceeds support the Dominican Republic missions trip.
Please help Masterworks reach out beyond our walls.
A group of students will be travelling to the Dominican Republic this summer to show the love of Jesus through dance and other practical ways.
There are a number of ways you can help:
1. Financial donation; you will receive a tax receipt. We would greatly appreciate the gift, as we are needing to raise more finances for this endeavor.
2. Donating items from this list:
- Bottles of vitamins (no gummies please, as they melt)
- Used glasses from your eye-care provider
- Granola bars (4x the jumbo packages)
- Jumbo container of peanut butter (1)
- Rice Krispies (4x the jumbo packages)
- Jumbo packages of raisins (2)
3. Baking for recital: we need many people to bake 2-3 dozen cookies (or baking of their choice) for us to sell at the recital.
Please sign up at the front desk to let us know you will be donating
All proceeds go towards our 2017 Dominican Mission.
If you'd like to know more about this trip, please return to our blog as we hope to share stories and vision from those who will be going or have gone in the past.
Masterworks needs you!
If you love cookies and other tasty baked treats, then come buy some at the recital and help raise money for our students who are going to the Dominican to serve this summer.
If you love baking cookies (or brownies or squares or cinnamon twists or...), then please bring some to the recital to help raise money for the trip. Some gluten-free or nut-free or dairy-free would be appreciated as well.
There will be a sign-up sheet at the front desk. Bring 2-3 dozen of whatever you choose on plastic-wrapped plates (confirm at front exactly how they want displayed).
More information regarding recital is available. Check the community bulletin board while you're at the studio, for the base attire list (what you need to supply underneath costumes). If you are not sure what something means, use this week to ask the teacher so you have time to figure out where to find it.
Parents are advised to supply a backpack with your child's name on the outside, for all the things your child will be bringing to recital and dress rehearsal.
Here is the recital checklist:
It's the time of year to begin planning for summer camps and fall. How did that happen? We're not even done this year! May is the month where students and teachers are busy focusing on finishing and fine-tuning choreography and parents are grappling with what do next...unless you prefer to leave that kind of thinking until later.
There is an incentive to start now, as everyone who registers before the end of the month will not have to pay a registration fee. The new handbook and schedule should be out this week and online registration opening up. You can also register at the front desk during class time. After classes are over, there will be regular office hours posted, and an open house in June. Lots of decisions to be made!
If finances are a deciding factor, please take note that there are work-for-trade options and subsidies available. Just ask one of the friendly front desk people.
This week, more information will be going out regarding how recital works and what students need to wear etc. Parents of students age 3-12 are invited to come to the opening or closing portion of class (ask at front desk) to learn more.
The weather is getting better and that makes it harder to be cooped up inside, but what's going on in-studio is pretty exciting, too. Make the most of all of it!
And be sure to check out the summer camp options.
