Masterworks students have been involved in filming for TV! Two very different opportunities came up in the past six weeks. On August 25th, members from the Performance Team were involved in the recording of an episode for the new TV series, BUGirl (Beautiful Unique Girl), a local Christian show airing in 2015 by Square One World Media (formerly Family Life Network). TV is a new venture for BUGirl, which started spreading the message of Psalm 139 to girls--that they have been been created by a loving God who wants them to walk in freedom, discover their beauty and live a life of purpose--through special interactive events.
The girls shared three dances and gave testimonies that lined up with some of the topics that will be discussed in the TV series like: identity, self-expression, forgiveness, and friendship. Their episode will likely air in January of next year on the Hope TV Channel. It will be exciting to see how dance adds an extra dimension to show, and of course, to see our own dancers doing what they love and sharing their own experiences.
On September 20th, a number of our 9 - 12 year old ballet students were involved in filming a Public Service Announcement for the Canadian Soccer Association, right here at Masterworks. The message was to encourage parents to be sportsmanlike: you wouldn't yell at your kids in a ballet recital, so why would you do it on the soccer field?
It was neat to see it all come together, and to see other ballerinas and extras experience Masterworks and YFC (and what makes us different). They loved our space, had a good time and were excited to see all of the cool things going on in the atrium and The Edge.
The ad will be aired to all members of the CSA, so over a million people potentially could see this commercial, with credits going to Masterworks as the studio. They will let us know when it is ready.
Congrats to all the students and staff involved, and thanks, God for the opportunities!
