What other projects or artistic ventures are you part of outside of Masterworks?
I am currently an apprentice dancer with NAfro Dance Productions, an African Contemporary dance company in Winnipeg. I am in my first year of a two-year apprenticeship with them. I have been rehearsing with the company Mon-Fri from 9:30-2:30 for the month of February. Our next show is Feb. 28th and March 1st.
I will also be in Ottawa for two weeks at the end of March/early April. I have the opportunity to work under The School of Dance in an emerging artist project. I will be among other emerging dancers working on a small project with an emerging Choreographer.
These opportunities are so exciting to me because it helps me to continue to grow as a dancer which therefore equips me as a teacher.
I love being a part of the dance community, especially in Winnipeg, because it feeds my artistic passion to explore, create, and perform.
What other communities are you part of?
My husband and I attend The Table Church which meets above Independent Jewellers on Notre Dame. We have been going there for four years.
Would you like to introduce your spouse/kids to the Masterworks family?
My husband's name is Randall and we will be coming up on our fifth anniversary this year. We do not have any children nor do we have pets. We have 10 nieces and nephews that we love dearly! Randall works at Thom Bargen Coffee and Tea on Sherbrook. He is also a killer drummer and is always playing music whenever he can.
Anyone you’d like to particularly thank?
I have to, of course, thank Kristie and Teri-Lynn.
Kristie for keeping Masterworks floating over these years. She is the most amazing woman and has the biggest heart I know. Teri-Lynn for balancing us all out and being the superstar that she is. We are very privileged to have them as directors.
A little known fact? Hobby?
I love to knit and crochet in my spare time!
Another small tid-bit is that Randall and I are leaving for Australia in April. We are taking a much needed to trip and will be travelling for four months. I will miss my classes and the people of Masterworks greatly, but DO NOT FEAR because I will be back in September to start up with you all again.
