What is Surfacing?
Surfacing combines ministry and discipleship with dance training. The curriculum focuses on Ballet and Modern dance technique, using this gift to reach others with the gospel. Surfacing runs from September to April. A dance performance stream and a teaching stream are offered. Please visit the Surfacing Information page for more details on the Phases and specializations available.
The goal of Surfacing is to provide dancers with a solid Biblical and technical foundation. Through the course work, students will have opportunities to apply what they've learned, and gain experience.
Please Note: Surfacing, a program of Masterworks Dance Studio, is not an accredited program, and courses are not transferable to post-secondary institutions.
Who is This Program For?
This program is ideal for recent high school graduates who are looking to take their dance training to the next level and explore the fundamentals of teaching, while balancing a part time job or other post-secondary courses.
Building community through prayer, students will unpack the Bible focusing on reaching others with the gospel, guided by Surfacing Staff and guest teachers.
In addition, students will prepare for one outreach opportunity where the student will have the opportunity to put their dance, teacher training, and ministry training to practical use. This outreach trip occurs in Spring of 2020.
